How do I teach in summer 2021?

Print and eTextbooks with companion websites are now available! Companion websites are hosted by Lingco. Instructors may sample the new companion websites and set up their courses now. To sample the new Lingco websites, please select the appropriate button here on our “Companion Websites” page. To set up and customize your course, please visit “Companion Website” > “For Teachers.”

How do I teach in fall 2021 and beyond?

For fall 2021 courses, standalone textbooks will no longer be available. Instead, all textbooks will come with access to the Lingco companion website. Instructors should check with their bookstores to make sure they have ordered the appropriate textbook(s) with websites using the new ISBNs on the press.georgetown.edu website (please see links below.)

What do I do if I already ordered the standalone textbooks (without a companion website) for fall 2021?

You should return any remaining textbooks to Hopkins Fulfillment Service (HFS) following the procedure outlined here and instead purchase the new Comme On Dit French Language Program Textbooks, which include access to the new Lingco companion website, for the fall 2021 semester and beyond.

Please note that this applies only to bookstores (not individual purchasers).

How do I request a digital exam or desk copy?

Instructors may request digital exam or desk copies of any of the products mentioned above by logging onto VitalSource.com, selecting “Faculty Sampling” in the upper right-hand corner, and selecting the desired products. When requesting the eTextbook, please select the version labeled “Digital Exam Copy,” which includes the answers to the textbook activities. Important note: Since access to the digital exam copies is email-specific, each instructor must request their own copy of the text(s).

How do I request a print exam or desk copy?

Instructors may request print exam or desk copies of the textbooks on press.georgetown.edu. Please note that the Workbooks and Answer Keys are available in ebook format only and that these are available until September 30, 2021, after which the exercises will only be accessible through the new Lingco companion website.


What is Lingco, and what features do the Lingco companion websites offer to students and instructors?

Lingco Language Labs, or Lingco for short, offers a fully integrated set of interactive exercises with all multimedia materials and additional online course management and grading options for teachers.

Lingco provides students with a variety of exercises, many with instant feedback for students, including multiple choice, drag and drop, typing response, listening and recording activities It gives the instructors the ability to set deadlines, assign activities, and manually grade activities, monitor student and class progress, and create their own class activities within the Lingco platform. How can I sample the new Lingo companion websites?

To sample the new Lingco websites, please select the appropriate button here on our “Companion Websites” page.

What content is included in the sample?

There are two sampling options.

(A) Instructors may view a sample chapter of a textbook, available immediately once you set up your free account with Lingco. This sample includes one chapter of each course in Lingco. The virtual classroom is populated with fake students to make the experience as realistic as possible for instructors. 

(B) Instructors may request the full demo–including all course content–which will be processed in 1-2 business days.

As an instructor, may I edit the demo course included in the sample?

You will not be able to edit the demo course included in this sample.

Do I need an instructor code to access the Lingco companion website?

You do not need a separate instructor’s code. To request access as an instructor, please use the appropriate button on the “Companion Website” access page.

What should I do if I am having trouble logging into Lingco?

If you have already set up your account with Lingco and are having any trouble logging in, please go to lingco.io and click “Forgot Password.”

How do I begin setting up my course in Lingco?

First, make sure you have signed up with Lingco as an instructor. Once you’ve submitted your request, you will receive a notification from Lingco within 1-2 business days giving you access to your course(s).

Once you have access to the course, you can begin customizing it to suit your classroom needs. For resources on how to set up and customize your course, please visit the Lingco Help Center here on the Lingco Language Labs website. It includes articles that explain how the platform works and what you can do with it.

If you have additional questions, Lingco is also available to live chat with instructors. You may live chat with a member of the Lingco team by clicking on the blue chat bubble in the bottom right of the Lingco.io website.

How do I invite students to join my course?

There are several ways to invite students to join your course. You can see a summary of all options (including screenshot examples) here on our “For Teachers” page.
